U15: introducing HC Ogre Juniors

Ogre  (population around 23000) is the principal town of Ogre Municipality in Central Latvia, 36 kilometres east of the capital Riga, situated at the confluence of the Daugava and Ogre rivers. It has been a town since 1928. The name of the town comes from the Ogre river. The Ogre village was first mentioned in 1206, called "Oger" in German. In 1861, when a railway Riga–Daugavpils was built, Riga's residents started to build summer cottages here. In 1862 Ogre became a health resort.

Junior Ice hockey club “Ogre juniors” was established in year 2011. The players are boys from Ogre town and neighbour towns. Totaly club counts 125 players in age from 9 to 17. Club has 5 teams playing in National championship. Club is partly financed by Ogre local governemnt. Two of Coaches are former Latvian National team players, i.e. Edgars Adamovics (former - Latvia national U18, U20) and Dmitrijs Zabotinskis (Former goalkeeper of Latvian National team from 2000 to 2009).

Head coach of the team, is already mentioned Edgars Adamovics. During his player career, he played in Latvia, France, Germany and Poland. His assistant is Peteris Ostoshovs, who in the season 2016/2017 won the Latvian champion with the team HK Kurbads in position of head coach.

HC "Ogre Juniors" is regulary participating in tournaments in different European countries. As the greatest successes we could mentioned victory on the AAA / AA + international tournament in Belarusian Mogilev, and fourth place at the AAA tournament in Helsinki.
